Case Studies

A selection of case studies follow:

Hannah has two young children Martha, 10 months, and Isaac, 2 and lives in Shoreham-by-Sea.

"Martha has always been prone to a blocked, stuffy nose but when she’s bunged up she just won’t let me near her with a tissue or wet wipe. When I first brought the Cleebo home with me Martha’s face lit up because as soon as she saw the colourful tips she thought we were playing a game. She loves the little Cleebo character too. Even her brother likes to get involved. Whenever Martha has a snotty he will come and tell me she ‘needs a Cleebo’ and I even let him choose which colour I use. Bogie-clearing is actually a bit of a family effort now!"

Case Study 2

Lucy Pendred, mum-of-two from Hove.

"I often find my four-year-old Max with his finger up his nose or bogeys on his clothes as he hasn’t learnt how to blow his nose properly yet. I found out about Cleebo from another mum – they are special tweezers to get rid of bogies! Cleebo has soft rubber tips and the safety ‘wings’ prevent it going too far into the nose which could be dangerous. Max finds the experience quite fun and I don’t have to worry about any stray bogeys ending up on the furniture!"

Case Study 3

Anthea Akpuche, childminder from Thamesmead.

"Gloopy snot and dried bogeys are something I’m used to as a childminder. It’s not a pleasant job, but as a childminder you’ve got to do it: a toddler with an uncomfortable blocked nose is grizzly and unhappy. The best thing about the Cleebo is how easy it is to use. You can quickly dislodge bogeys from around the nostrils and stuck inside. You’re in and out so quick there’s no time for tears and tantrums. The great thing about Cleebo for me is the changeable and washable ends. I wouldn’t want to use the same end on more than one child and having their own colour makes them feel special. When the parents come to pick them up I always ensure they have clean clothes and hands – and definitely not an unsightly snotty nose!"
